The history . . . .

Laurel Hill Forest Lodge has a colourful history, originally built as the Laurel Hill Prison Farm in 1957. More recently it was know as the Leslie Nott Afforestation Camp and the Laurel Hill Forest Camp, under the direction of the Forestry Commission of New South Wales, Australia.

Today, the only reminders of the Lodges history are the present names of the eight accommodation units which are named after Australia's major jails.

The area in general has a rugged, pioneering history complimenting the wilderness, the bushland and the forests which it continues to hold and endear today. A pervading adventurous spirit of endeavour against hardship and the elements invigorates its character even now. The country way of life remains intact and unspoiled.

With accommodation and recreation facilities for over 100 people the Lodges are within easy driving distance from Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Wagga Wagga and Albury-Wodonga.
