| " . . . . Last year our bushwalking club had the idea of a trip away
to walk some place different. The idea of walking the “Hume and Hovell
Track” came up. After some investigations we found a place called “Laurel
Hill Forest Lodge”, between Tumbarumba and Batlow not far from Tumut. They
handled our 35 members easily. The Lodge is ideally placed to do day trips
along a stretch of the Hume and Hovell from Tumut to Lankey's Creek. That
is, a possible 10, one day walks from the lodge. Our club did 3 one day
walks and returning to the lodge after each walk, this year we are booked in
for another 3 days of walks. This year we have over 50 members booked in. .
