Advanced Wilderness First Aid Course (AWFA) (4 days – 32 hours)

Laurel Hill Forest Lodge and Wilderness First Aid Consultants have put together a package for Advanced Wilderness First Aid. The course is run at Laurel Hill Forest Lodge were your accommodation and meals for the 4 days are provided.

The course is recommended for outdoor adventure leaders, school staff, Duke of Ed students as their residential component, parents, government departments, mining companies, bush walking clubs and any one that enjoys the great outdoors in remote areas.

Advanced Wilderness First Aid plus Bush Survival Courses can be organised for groups of 15 people or more at a date that suit your group. Please phone or email us for more information.

Food & Accommodation

Meals & Accommodation are payable by ALL students. Cost includes all meals from dinner prior to the starting day to and including lunch on the last day. Students must bring their own bedding & personal items.

The AWFA Course

The AWFA course is an excellent starting point for serious recreational adventurers or those starting in the Outdoor Recreation/Education fields. Plenty of scenarios, CPR/EAR and a solid understanding of patient assessment sets you up for success.

This course will give you a solid grounding in patient assessment and many of the key topics in Wilderness First Aid.
With four days of practice and content, you will leave this course assessed to a high level and confident in your new skills.
Upon completion and assessment, you will be issued with an Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) Certification valid for three years, a CPR Certification valid for one year and a Statement of Attainment outlining the Nationally Accredited Units of Competency attained.
During this course you will be critiqued on your performance during scenarios to ensure understanding of basic principles. There will be practical skills verification both in elements of Wilderness First  Aid and CPR as well as a multiple choice exam to verify competence at this level.

NATIONALLY RECOGNISED UNITS
The following Nationally Recognised Units Of Competency from the Health Training Package (HLT07) – are mapped into this course and can be gained by completing a 140 question online exam:

HLTFA201A – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
