Laurel Hill Forest Lodge has been the base for Duke of Edinburghs Awards Expeditions for many school groups over the past 10 years. Laurel Hill Forest Lodge is a perfect launching place for successful and safe expeditions, having the necessary accommodation and back-up facilities for up to 120 people. Laurel Hill Forest Lodge staff have a thorough knowledge of the surrounding forests, private channel two-way radio coverage of the entire area, knowledge of the Hume and Hovell Walking Track, and drop off, pickup and back-up facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience for students.
Laurel Hill Forest Lodge Silver and Gold Awards Package Includes:
· Guidance on a suitable expedition route being 4 days 3 nights along the Hume and Hovell Walking Track.
· Assistance in pre expedition planning.
· Resource booklet for each group.
· Accommodation, dinner, breakfast and trek briefing prior to expedition departure.
· Assistance in drop off at expedition starting points, including radio hire.
· Daily radio and visual checks on each group.
· Assistance in pickup at the conclusion of expeditions.
Travel options to and from Laurel Hill Forest Lodge:
Private Car driven by parent or teacher, teacher-driven small bus or Country Link train to Cootamundra then rail bus to Laurel Hill. Depending on numbers, arrangements could be made for coach pick up from your school.
Program:
· Arrive at Laurel Hill Forest Lodge by 5 pm on Monday 8th December 2008.
· Introduction and check permission notes, medical forms and expedition gear.
· Check into lodges, bunk-style accommodation (provide own bed linen, towel, pillow and toiletries)
· 6pm Dinner.
· Talk about the Hume and Hovell Track and briefing on individual routes, map reading, emergency procedures and use of radios.
· Supper and bed
· Breakfast in the dinning room then pack up ready to start expedition.
· Laurel Hill staff will take each group to their starting point.
Costing:
First nights accommodation and meals $35.00 per student
Plus the expedition fee $330.00 per group of 4 to 8 students for 4 days 3 nights.

Staff and Parents Package:
Dinner, bed, breakfast and lunch each day for parents and staff wishing to stay while students undertake their expeditions. $60.00 per person per day (Provide own bed linen, towel, pillow and toiletries)

This year we are offering an extra residential package using the expertise of Stuart Clark, qualified trainer and managing director of All Aid Wild Aid.
To comply with Duke of Edinburgh's requirements students would need to be at Laurel Hill Forest Lodge by 10am on Saturday 13th December 2008 to do a day of Survival skills followed by the 4 days of Wilderness First Aid.
Laurel Hill Forest Lodge will provide the venue, accommodation for four nights and all meals. Plus the bush survival training on Saturday 13th December 2008.

Wilderness First Aid Certificate
The Wild Aid program targets situations where life saving support is not immediately available.
