Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze and Silver Programs
Laurel
Hill Forest Lodge staff has a thorough knowledge of the surrounding forests,
private channel two-way radio coverage of the entire area, knowledge of the Hume
and Hovell Walking Track, and drop off, pickup and back-up facilities to ensure a safe
and enjoyable learning experience for students and staff.
Bronze Treks
Laurel Hill Forest Lodge offers a very successful two night three day Duke of Edinburgh’s
Award Bronze Trek Program. Where the students meals are provided, allowing more time to
become familiar with their packs, navigation, first aid and camp craft. The success rate of
this program has a very high level of students progressing onto the silver level.
The
students can also do their senior first aid course during the trek which
gives them a far greater knowledge of first aid in remote areas.
Silver Treks
Two nights and three days. As the students are now familiar with their packs,
navigation, first aid and camp craft, they carry their food, cooking utensils and
prepare all their meals. A mentor guide walks with the group.

Accommodation and meals are available on the night prior to the
expedition if the group is unable to arrive before midday on day one.
We have the facilities to support back to back pre and qualifier
expeditions for bronze and silver students with accommodation
and meals supplied at Laurel Hill Forest Lodge on the rest day.
